In-town Resident Information

The Town of Hamilton has approximately 700 citizens.  The Town is incorporated and is governed by an elected Town Council and Mayor.  There are two committees, the Parks and Recreation Committee and the Business Development Advisory Committee, open to residents.  The Town Council meets on the second Monday of each month and the Planning Commission meets on the second Wednesday of every other month.  Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the town office.  Citizens are encouraged to attend.

The Hamilton Community Park is located at 31 West Colonial Highway.  It is open every day from 7:00 a.m. to dusk.  A playground, picnic tables, grills and a pavilion are available.  No portable restroom facilities are currently provided.  You may reserve the park for all or part of a day for $50.  However, reservations are not required to use the park.  Reservation forms are available in the town office and online.

The Town provides weekly trash and recycling service every Wednesday.  You may place most large items with the regular trash pick-up.  Contact the town office to schedule special trash pick-ups.  Recycling bins are available at the town office.  Click here for garbage and recycling information.

The Town provides water and sewer service to residents.  This service is billed bi-monthly.  A new account fee of $25.00 will be added to your first bill.  See the rate schedule for specific billing information.

The current real estate tax rate is set at $0.28 per hundred dollars of assessed value.  The assessment is determined by the County of Loudoun.  Real estate tax payments are due semi-annually on June 5th and December 5th of each year.

The current personal property tax rate is set at $1.10 per hundred dollars of assessed value.  Personal property tax payments are due October 5th of each year.

The Town also requires residents to purchase town vehicle decals.  These are available for purchase at the town office.  Decals expire October 4th of each year and new decals must be displayed by October 5th of each year.  The cost of the decal is $25.00 for automobiles or trucks and $16.00 for motorcycles.  If you have a decal from another locality for the current year, you may trade it in for a Town of Hamilton sticker for $1.00.

The Town Office, located at 53 East Colonial Highway, is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  A drop box is located on the front door for after-hour payments.  Residents may contact the Town at (540) 338-2811 or hamilton.va@comcast.net with any inquiries.  Hard copies of all ordinances currently in effect (zoning, subdivision, etc) are available for review and purchase in the town office and are available digitally here.

We look forward to meeting and working with you!
